Formed in Salem, Oregon in 1980 by John Mahan (Lead Guitar), Richard Lynch (Rhythm Guitar), Russell Koch(Bass Guitar), Jim Maxwell (Drums) and Bob Page (Keyboards), Saint were originally know as The Gentiles. This incarnation of the band recorded their first demo in 1981. They later changed their name to Saint and recorded their "Warriors of the Son" EP in early 1984 on Rotton Records. They sounded like a mixture of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and were one of the early bands to put Christian based lyrics in heavy metal. The band went on to record two very popular albums for Pure Metal Record before breaking up in 1989. For along time the Pure Metal CDs were very scarce and hard to come by and were fetching $70+ on ebay. However, in 1997 Richard and DeAnna Lynch reissued all three Saint albums on a two CD set, bringing down the price of the originals. Over the years all three of the original Saint albums, as well as the Gentiles demos and some live material have been released. In 1999 Saint released a an EP titled "The Perfect Life" with a "more modern sound" and a new singer. Fortunately original vocalist Josh Kramer returned to the fold shortly after and the band decided to record their next album in a style that the fans were demanding. The Gentiles 1979 Christian Center of Salem. The Band was called “Power Faith”. It’s members were John Mahan, Russ Koch, Jim Maxwell and the Late Bob Page. These guys had a small collection of songs and shortly broke up, just to return a year later as “The Gentiles” minus Bob Page. It was during this time Richard Lynch was managing the band, Playing rhythm guitar and writing songs. By 1981 The Gentile went in to the studio and recorded their first demo with a stand in singer, Max Clark. They sent out to record labels and received a few offers, but each member was slowly moving on to their individual careers, and by 1982 the band folded. Saint 1982 Richard Lynch and drummer Gene McClindon found themselves bandless and a desire to continue on with the dream of playing Heavy Metal for the Lord. During this time Richard was writing material for a new LP and seized the name SAINT. Gene contacted a friend he new who was to play guitar and could sing as well, his name Josh Kamer. Josh was a great guitarist and had quite the voice. They played an audition in LA for Steve Archer but were told to practice and maybe some other time. Richard told them there would be no other time for them and they left. This is when the idea of there own label was birthed. 1984 Born was the new label Rotton Records and the EP “Warriors of the Son.” John Mahan returns and two years of “musical” drummers start, too many to name. 1986 the band signs a contract with Pure Metal and releases its 2nd LP “Time’s End.” With drummer Mike Lowery out of the band just one week before recording, Brian Willis is then hired (on loan from the band Quarter Flash) 1989 Too Late For Living is released, guitarist Dee Harrington and Drummer John Perine join the effort. The band is now on an all time roll and mysteriously folds??? 1998 Richard Lynch and Dee Harrington regroup with singer Tim Lamberson. Saint puts out the EP “The Perfect Life” then…in 2003 Josh Kramer was contacted by Richard Lynch. With new guitarist Jerry Johnson, Saint returned to their traditional metal roots, thus “In The Battle” is recorded in 2004. In the spring of 2004 Dee Harrington returns to the band and latter that summer Tim Lamberson finishes the line up as the thunderous new Saint drummer. By Nov. 2004 Warriors of the Son is re-recorded and the boys are prepping to Play shows.
