Notable choro composer (1900–1961) and important clarinetist and saxophonist. Composed and recorded the choro “É do que Há!” in 1931. In 1938, he composed “O Pandeiro do João da Bahiana.” In 1953, he would record Ratinho’s choro “Saxofone, por que choras?” The following year, Ary Barroso would cite him as one of the most important popular musicians in Brazil.
