VEROCAI, ARTHUR CÔRTES Born in Rio de Janeiro on 17 June 1945, Arthur Côrtes Verocai is a guitar player, composer and orchestra conductor. His teaches were Léo Soares and Darci Villaverde (classic guitar), Nair Barbosa da Silva (harmonya), Roberto Menescal (popular guitar) e Vilma Graça (piano). n 1966, the singer Leny Andrade recorded his song, Olhando o Mar, with lyrics by Ronaldo Soares. Two years latter, Arthur joined a group of singers and composers in an event called Mísicanossa (our music) is a series of shows in Teatro Santa Rosa, Rio de Janeiro. The LP released to register the event brought Arthur’s songs Madrugada and Novo Amanhã, both composed in partnership with Paulinho Tapajós. In the same year Arthur Verocai graduated a civil engineer at the Catholic University of Rio. In 1969 his professional career as a musician and orchestration had its start. He acted as music director and guitar player in the show É a maior, stared by Marlene. That year, he wrote the first orchestra arrangements presented in the music Festivals of Porto Alegre and São Paulo. Later, he was also in charge of the orchestration of LPs by Ivan Lins, O Terço, Jorge Benjor, Elizeth Cardoso, Gal Costa, Quarteto em Cy, MPB 4, Célia, Guilherme Lamounier, Nélson Gonçalves and Marcos Valle, among others. He was orchestra conductor in the show A vida de Braguinha, together with Elizeth Cardoso, Quarteto em Cy, MPB 4 and Sidney Magal, sharing its musical direction with Magro of MPB4. In the 1970s, he wrote the orchestra arrangement for the winner of the Festival de Juiz de Fora (MG), performed by O Terço. He was hired by TV Globo, acting as musical director and writing the arrangements of the shows Som Livre Exportação, Chico City and Grande Família, in addition to incidental music spots and soap-opera presentation themes. In 1972, his first solo record was produced Arthur Verocai. His work for publicity campaigns include advertises of Brahma, Fanta, Petrobrás, Sul América, Souza Cruz e Shell, among others.
