Engel is a melodic death metal band with alternative influences from Gothenburg, Sweden. They are currently signed to SPV/Steamhammer Records and have released their debut album Absolute Design via the label on October 31st, 2007. The album will see a North American release on May 20th, 2008. The band have shared the stage with such acts as Still Remains and toured Europe with Amon Amarth and Dimmu Borgir. The band is most notable for having several members from other successful Swedish acts, such as In Flames, The Crown, Evergrey, Lord Belial and Gardenian. They have finished their second album and currently Niclas Engelin is on tour with In Flames substituting for Jesper.
